Fake Baking...

So yes... That's what I've been doing, I know it's a very superficial thing to do but it's actually relaxing to lay in that warm light, I don't know I have other reasons why I'm going, but I don't feel like sharing that. I thought the whole process is weird you lay in a bed naked for a couple minutes and that's that. I've only went 2 times and my whole torso is burnt! My arms and legs are fine but I feel so uncomfortable when sometimes just putting on a shirt... When does this process stop burning and I'll just tan. I don't usually burn except the time I was in Mexico (that was expected) but man I guess places that don't really see the sun at all just burns like immediately.

Iowa & the State Fair

Of course I've got racist comments everyone has had their share of hate and prejudice remarks... I remember my first encounter was in Elementary school, when kids use to slant their eyes and say "ching chong" to me over and over again. Also they would put me in ESL classes when back then I spoke English better than Taidam. (Which I have to say I can barely speak the language anymore... It's sad but I'll talk about that some other time.) I know Des Moines, IA is growing and we are getting more different races here and there's a lot of ways of celebrating like there's the Asian Festival, Art Festival, Italian Festival, Latino Heritage Fest, etc. There's a lot more but that's just to name a few, people seriously think that just because it's described as that that they will have to be that race to attend. That's not it this is just to let the rest of Iowa to know what we're about how there is more culture out there than what you have in your homes on your TV screens.

The big event that brings almost all of Iowa to Des Moines is the Iowa State Fair, I have to say I'm not a big fan of the State Fair but I usually go at least once to eat something and want my way out. I don't want to hate on the rest of Iowa but there's a lot of ignorance out there. My cousin Rosie (Check out here BLOG!) went and told me about her experience there. She had fun but she just dusted off all the small little comments that were made towards her. Starting off with a group of guys all cheering for "China" when they walked past. She also has a black friend that was with her, while he was throwing something away an old lady grabbed her child near saying to her something in the lines of "I don't want you near that nigger." I was kind of stunned hearing that I felt like it was something from the 1850s or something. This makes me believe I think we should change the State Fair a little providing a little more than just about Iowa Agriculture and Rides.
