Alicia Keys "Brand New Me"
I have Alicia Key's song "Brand New Me" on repeat. I've always been such a fan since I've heard her first single "Fallin'" and she never seems to disappoint when she comes out with a new album. Below is the video for her latest single on VEVO.

Whitney Houston RIP 2/11/12
So Whitney is gone and I haven't really blogged about her. I remember the first time I've heard Whitney, it was way back when with "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" a huge hit for her so there's no way you can live during that time without hearing that. I obviously didn't hear it the first time it came out but it was years after and people were still rocking that song out.
I believe it was when "I Will Always Love You" when the Bodyguard came out when I truly fell in love with her. I just remember that playing all the time on the radio and as a child I would sing that every time hitting those big long notes in my young child's voice. Since then I would listen to every song she had and just didn't know anyone who had such a strong voice as she does. Yes, you can argue with Mariah or Christina's voice being just as powerful but I feel Whitney always just been so effortless when she performs.
I'm not going to sit here and just talk about her issues with drugs because it's very sad that she's gone and the battle she had with drugs. It's unfortunate that she didn't have the right people around her to help her beat the addiction. I just want to remember her for her voice her talent. I've listed my favorite Whitney Houston songs.
1. I Will Always Love You
2. I Have Nothing
3. I Wanna Dance With Somebody
4. So Emotional
5. Run to You

I Love You Porgy
Everybody that knows me, knows that I just love females with great vocals. I only saw this performance by Christina probably a year ago but it was a performance she did at the 2008 Grammys covering the great and late Nina Simone's, 'Porgy.'
I love the old school Jazz, like Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong and Frank Sinatra to say the least. When you can actually hear and identify the instruments being played makes it just seem like you're actually there. Well I know that Christina is a pop artist and sadly this isn't the type of music she typically puts out there but just with her voice with this song just makes it sound sweet in the ear.

P!nk
When I first saw this performance at the Grammys this year, I had such a new respect for P!nk. It was such a flawless performance vocally and visually. I can't think of any past grammy performance that has been done so well and if you can think of one let me know.

Nas
So last night has to be one of the best nights I've ever had! I went to a Nas and Damian Marley concert and had such a blast. I can't really say I'm the biggest fan of Damian Marley but having Nas there was all I needed. It's pretty crazy, I've been such a fan of Nas since I first heard "If I Ruled the World" with Lauryn Hill. Everyone that knows me, know that I'm a big Lauryn Hill fan. Since I can remember watching MTV and seeing the music video for "Vocab" when Fugees were also known as Translator Crew, it completely changed my life and followed her career since and I'm just happy that it spread out to other artists that I've grown to love.
There's only a few artists out there that I would listen to their music and it would have such an emotional impact on me and Nas is definitely one of them. When that guy came out on stage I went delirious, it was like a little girl at a Justin Bieber concert. Maybe I was star strucked but I've never felt that emotion to see someone that was a big part of you growing up that you really never met but have been idolizing over and then being so close to him feeding off his energy was so mind blowing. It's like an upcoming fashion designer meeting Gianni Versace, or a painter watching Leonardo DaVinci painting the Mona Lisa. I think I completely lost it when he did a whole medley of his classics, I was trying to record the entire thing but found it very difficult when I'm also jumping and screaming.
Definitely can check this off my list, i'm closer to clearing out this bucket!

Kanye and Taylor VMA '09
It's late to talk about this really and it's getting really old since everybody in the world is talking about this. Here's my opinion on it now...
As much as I didn't appreciate Kanye West and his crazy antics Sunday night (09/13/09) on the VMAs, interrupting Taylor Swift on her moment to win an award for the first time. I'm over it now, Kanye apologized and Taylor accepted. As much as I don't respect Kanye West as a person, I respect the music he puts out...

A Weird Tweeter
Twitter is getting huge. Seems like everyone and their mom has Twitter accounts and have been tweeting about everything they do. Well have you got someone who has came up to you because they are one of your followers and would talk to you like they know you? Well that has happened to me a couple times but this time was kind of awkward. This person came up to me talking to me like they know me and talking about what's been going on and all of that. I am so relieved that I was with some people and he introduced himself to them so I found out his name that way. I pretty much just talked to him like I also knew him and talked about work and junk. It was so awkward I just didn't know what to do...
