Today's Apple Keynote (06/09/08) 3g iPhone... Not Impressed...

So today was suppose to be the big day to announce if all rumors are true about the up and coming release of a new 3g iPhone... Well it started them just talking about the new software upgrade on the iPhone 2.0 software and how it works with exchange, how they are welcoming 3rd party applications to be download via iTunes, and gave examples of games and possiblities of what you can do with the hardware of the iPhone.

(I may get geeky... we'll see)
If you're an individual you can purchase 'MobileMe' which what it looks to me is almost like an online sort of outlook web access that the device synchronizes to and it cost 100 bucks a year which I don't think it's too bad but if you're paying for all other services I guess it could be a little much... I do with the Blackberry and depending on your carrier blackberry plan comes with unlimited internet and BIS email usually around 30 dollars. People can argue how much they want but I think the browsing on the iPhone looks really good likes like a real desktop while the blackberry browser will compress it down to fit on to the screen and doesn't sort the images nicely to view. Blackberry does not sync calendar, address book, task and memopad wirelessly... UNLESS your main email is Gmail that they have their own application to sync wirelessly when you tell it to.

MobileMe how it's suppose to work is have an online organizer you put in your information and it synchronizes your email, address book, calendar, no memopad or task. It's suppose to be a constant push to your iPhone if you add info in address book it should work to update on the internet organizer which also updates on your outlook or Mac applications (Mail, Address Book, iCal) on your desktop. Even cooler MobileMe has this interesting application where you can store your pictures on to share with friends and family if you take an interesting pictures on your iPhone you can upload it to your MobileMe account and share it that way. MobileMe is $100 a year which is like 8.50-ish a month if you put it that way, basic AT&T iPhone plan is $20.00 so roughly $30.00 as well.

(Let's go back to the iPhone and keynote...)
So... The biggest update is that they added 3g to the device the front looks exactly the same the back is going to be all plastic in black or in the 16gb model you can get it also in white. They also put in real GPS into the phone as well, no more finding you like (I think you are around this area, if not I'm probably 5 blocks off...) For me it's all like why didn't you do this before? 3g that's already in a lot of other AT&T phones and GPS which is also in a lot of smartphones out there... THE PRICE IS WHAT BUGS ME~! I think all you readers know that I lost my original 8GB iPhone that I purchased the day of the release in my Mexico trip a month ago... I love the iPhone so damn much that I had to get a replacement and I went with the 16GB instead... Love it, but that was only a month ago and I paid the full $499.99 for the phone and now Apple! Ooooh Apple! You have lowered these prices on me for the 8gb model it's $199.99 and for the 16gb it's $299.99... I paid $199.99 more for an outdated model! I hope when they release it July 11 that they can cut me a break or something... I really want the newer one I need to get rid of current one somehow... any suggestions? I don't think I'll may much on Ebay since the new one will be much cheaper... Maybe it'll be just a backup MP3 Player or something... my god what a waste.

I'm still disappointed because they are still missing some basic features that's on most mobile phones that they haven't done with the software upgrade or on the new model phone... Still no MMS option or forwarding a text message. No video recording on the phone as well, no upgrade to the camera pixels or any included flash? I thought if they were going to build a new device that they would also step up the flash memory to 32gb as well... Still some features of "Why didn't they do this before?" not on this release, but maybe another software upgrade to do those features because it's nothing with hardware for that... I don't think we should have to pay for a 3rd party application to record video on the phone, that's almost standard on a lot of phones out there.

Here's the new 3G iPhone ad, if you haven't seen it already...

Please comment below or take the poll on the right side on which color I should get when it comes out white or black? Also subscribe to me on the right side. Thanks

Hey Otis,

Thank you very much for your true and kind comments re my blog post on my fear of writing! You're a smart sweetheart.

Are you liking Des Moines better lately? I'm getting more and more in the swing of things here.

By the way, my goal in life (one of my goals) is to have an iPhone!

Best Regards,

Jules
